When this happens this is what I do:
1: I prime it for about 4 to 5 times with 4 secs gap after each turn of the key.
If that does not work then I try
2:Jack the car up from either side and then it starts up [endtext]

sounds/looks like you have a restriction
change that fuel filter and inspect the lines
notice how when u moved the line in a certain position it starts to flow normally without any loud sounds, the restriction in the system is causing the fuel pump to overload, creating that ticking sound
i also suggest u inspect the fuel pump also
